Ower, Coach
I was born and raised on a farm in Deer Park. My version of sports growing up was bucking bales, driving farm equipment, and bottle feeding calves. It wasn't until I started college that I found myself leaning into fitness (with absolutely no idea how to approach it). I started working out at a CrossFit gym where I began to learn fundamental movements and the power of working out alongside like-minded individuals. Life took me to Montana where I started frequenting the gym alongside my now husband, Joe, as he was going to school to become a physical therapist (and I became his guinea pig for all things movement). Fast forward to now, I love to create a space for people to lean into their \" why\" behind fitness. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned athlete, 509 is a great place to work hard and meet some pretty great people.
I started my fitness journey in my 20s, where I had no direction but a desire to learn. In college, I would go to the gym as a means of some \"me\" time. It would be my place to escape the daily grind. It wasn't until my last semester of undergrad that I started to think about pursuing a career in the health industry. I took a health psychology class that introduced a biopsychosocial approach to health, and I began to consider continuing my education in this field. From that turning point, I began to lean into a role of highlighting the power of physical health and how it fuels our overall well-being. Now, as a coach for one-on-one and group classes, I thrive on the opportunity to push you to do the hard thing. I will always be one of your biggest cheerleaders, meet you where you are at, and pretend like I can't hear you when you say you don't want to go heavier.
I am a therapist by trade. I believe in approaching health holistically, meaning there is power in the mind and body connection. At 509, we provide a badass workout, but it's through the consistency and hard work that people begin to see the mental benefits, too. Yes, getting that PR is an amazing physical rush, yet it's the resilience and capacity to do hard things that we take into our lives outside the gym that essentially matter. My favorite role as a coach is watching people achieve their goals inside and outside the gym.
